Robert Tai's Birthday Celebration in Bangkok
Upon our arrival at the hotel at about 3.00pm, we wasted no time to unpack and shower, so that we can squeeze in some shopping before dinner. A 15-minute walk or a 2-minute sky train ride to Siam Interchange will bring us to the Siam shopping belt or the MBK complex. But we must be back by 7.00pm for the coach to ferry us to our dinner site.
Waiting at the lobby of Asia Hotel while waiting for the coach to bring us to Baiyoke Suite Hotel. Little wonder why some seats at the lobby are broader than others, otherwise thought that the damage was done by some oversized Americans.
We were at Sky Lounge, 43rd storey Baiyoke Suit Hotel. Our next door then, the Baiyoke Tower 2, at 80+ storey high, is the tallest building in Bangkok.
You can see the reflection on the mirror: singing and clapping. Happy Birthday to Robert!
Blowing the candle on the 2-tier cake. The big candle is for lighting!
Joanne representing SMD Techtronics, presenting birthday card to Robert.
Frank Chua representing SMD Singapore presenting birthday card on behalf of everyone of us.
Robert and wife with Mr Smith, our tour guide in Bangkok.
Chan Miew Heng and Agnes posing with the birthday cake. Maybe recalling their wedding dinner years ago.
Queuing to get our long awaited food.
Another scene at the food-spread.
It was chow-down time. While some posed for the camera, others were simply to busy with the food, since our last proper meal before this was 11.00am Singapore time at Changi.
This was the second of the 2 long tables, like Malay wedding feast.
After we had our fill, the 200-Baht voucher was exchanged with cash, Thai Bahts. The bus then took us to Suan Lum night market. With 200 Bahts, you can get 2 T-shirts or 6-8 costume necklaces at the night market, depending on your skills at bargaining. If you look around Far East Plaza, then it is a steal. Next time bring more Bahts.
Anna Lim and Sabrina at the Suan Lum night market. All prices are tagged for bargain, the sellers may find it uncomfortable if you don't bargain. And looking at the bags they were holding, extra luggage for the return flight will be necessary. After the night market, most of us headed back to Asia Hotel to retire for the day.
